It features conversations with prominent social work professionals, interviews with cutting-edge researchers, and information on emerging trends and best practices in the field of social work. InSocialWork is the biweekly podcast series of the University at Buffalo School of Social Work. The National Eating Disorders Association – advocates on behalf of and supports individuals and families affected by eating disorders…work with partners and volunteers to develop programs and tools to help everyone who seeks assistance. The National Center for Responsible Gaming – helps increase understanding of pathological and youth gambling and find effective methods of treatment for the disorder.
The link between social anxiety and depression
She introduces the concept of a companion app — a simplified, visual-first experience designed for young people who find the full-featured app overwhelming, while the main app serves parents and carers managing complex care networks. Addassa Follett introduces the Sickle Cell Society’s Children and Young Person’s Peer Mentoring Programme, which pairs young people aged 10–24 with older mentors who share lived experience of sickle cell. She describes her work with Tiny Medical Apps to develop a Digital Health Passport for epilepsy, noting the complex relationship between epilepsy, learning disabilities, and mental health. Speakers share lived experience and insights across asthma, epilepsy, sickle cell, mental health and neurodiversity.
The knowledge and learning goes in so many directions if we keep our minds open, of course. We begin with national funding that disappeared after some time. You all know that the mental health diagnostic categories are imperfect. Usman Hamdani, who is now on camera, is the research lead for the mental health translation team Trauma-informed school programs for youth at Wellcome Trust in England. It is equally important to ensure that they receive good quality care, and part of that is ensuring that the services and treatments we provide have the highest likelihood of helping these individuals and communities and to optimize the care we provide. Today we are kicking off the first episode or first webinar of our 2023 series, and I am thrilled to announce that this webinar has been co-organized by NIMH and our colleagues from the Wellcome Trust, and they will soon be invited to come to the screen. Some of you attended the 2022 Webinar Series which hosted seven webinars last year. During the Q&A session, the panelists addressed practical considerations for integrating these therapies and resources into routine practice.
